Video duration: 561 seconds The Glu-rol (spoken Amdo-Tibetan:lerul) is a festival usually lasting for three days. The trance-medium lhawa gets possessed by the guardian spirit of the village. Villigers offer sacrifices of food and drink, and in certain villages, some of the dancers let the lhawa pierce their cheeks with an iron stick. In Langjia the lhawa chops his head with a knife in order to perform a blood sacrifice. The spirit speaks , and gives instructions through the lhawa. In the afternoons, a group of comedians give an amusing performance, making fun of certain villagers.
